The Millennium Forum will be holding auditions on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th May 2012 from 4:30pm-8:00pm for their annual youth production which sees Bob Carlton’s juke box musical ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet ‘ being recreated for a three-night run at the Forum, from 9th to 11th August 2012, and we want you to help make it happen.
We are calling on male and female 14 – 21 year olds who can act, dance and sing. We hope to find both new people who want to join us and also young people who have auditioned previously. At the audition you will be required to dance, sing and deliver a short dialogue of the script. If you do get a recall, it is vital that you can commit to rehearsals from June right through to the public performances in August.
For those who make the final cast, you will become a part of an unforgettable and truly inspirational project, joining an all-local youth cast which will perform ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’ on the Forum’s stage for three nights, 9th to 11th August. Judging by the high standards of previous year’s auditions for Sweeney Todd, Chess, Les Miserablés, West Side Story and Fame we expect these to be highly contested roles for the 2012 production.
Inspired by the motion picture Forbidden Planet courtesy of Turner Entertainment Co, this amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd. Return to the Forbidden Planet will be the 2012 amateur licensed production and the smash hit West End musical takes the 1956 film, with plot taken from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, raids the Bard’s other plays at will (and not always absolutely verbatim) and sets it to a score of great pop hits from the 1960s and 70s.
