InterAct – Youth Arts Festival 2018 – 2nd-7th July

This will be a day for young people, family & friends to come together and celebrate all the wonderful work the festival participants did throughout the week of Interact. There will be exhibitions in the piazza. There will be a showcase in the auditorium as well as a few surprises along the way to celebrate a decade of Interact!

A Note from the Festival Director

As we approach the summer and the school holidays, I am delighted to welcome you to the TENTH anniversary of the Youth Festival, InterAct 2018 – brought to you by the Millennium Forum Theatre. My name is Siobhán Molloy and I am proud to hold the role of Education & Schools Marketing Officer in the Millennium Forum.

The theme of our youth work is always one which promotes the Arts in exciting, inspiring, innovative, creative and fun ways. Moreover, we are focussing on celebration and community cohesion as many, if not all, of the activities on offer are geared towards raising awareness about, and improving, mental (and physical) health and wellbeing. We will provide young people with creative spaces where they can express themselves and highlight and discuss issues that affect them daily.

Every activity is FREE to all young people from all backgrounds, aged 12-21 years. This Festival is created by young people for young people and we are proud to offer access to the best arts facilitation that this city, and region, has to offer. The plethora of activities will culminate in a very special showcase on Saturday 7th July 2018 in the Millennium Forum, where the building will be shining with the stars from the week’s workshops as well as their friends, families and special guests.

As you peruse this year’s programme, I would like to acknowledge and thank all those who helped make the magic of the festival come to life! From funders to partners, from the dedicated Millennium Forum staff to the young people themselves, and of course, the parents, guardians, teachers and facilitators, without whom, this festival simply would not be a reality.

Thank you all and remember, the famous words of Henri Matisse: “Creativity takes courage.”
