The Millennium Forum would like to invite students from Derry/Londonderry Secondary Schools to become members of our new Youth Forum. We would be delighted to accept individuals, both male and female, who can commit to meeting for one hour each Friday fortnight. We welcome all who are keen to get involved, pupils who are able bodied and disabled and those from ethnic minorities.

The Youth Forum will be integral in the programming, design, publicity and delivery of InterAct Youth Arts Festival. The Millennium Forum has secured funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland's Lottery Funds to spearhead this project for local youth aged 12 to 21 years.

InterAct Youth Arts Festival will take place from Saturday 1st - Friday 7th August 2009. The Festival will offer multidisciplinary Arts events for youth of all capabilities and from all backgrounds in The Millennium Forum, The Playhouse Theatre, The Waterside Theatre, The Void Gallery, The Gasyard, The Verbal Arts Centre and The Nerve Centre.

We aim to create a high integrity Arts Festival for youth, by youth, with a focus on enjoying the exploration, education and entertainment offered by all elements of the Arts. InterAct aims to encourage youth from all sections of the community, disabled youth and ethnic minorities, to participate in the Arts; while building and strengthening links between schools, youth groups, community groups, arts organisations and our local young people.

InterAct Youth Arts Festival & Forum offers benefits for those who get involved. The young people will: gain first-hand experience of organising a festival; further their knowledge of the Arts and the practicalities of event management, programming, publicity, print, radio and online marketing; and learn essential transferable skills, such as team-building and public speaking.
