Companies Involved: Dunnes Stores, Millennium Forum and Arts and Business N.I

Objective: Dunnes Stores where keen to reach into their local community and help a group of young people with autism, they were also keen to celebrate new designer ranges within their store.

The Project: Project Managed by the Millennium Forum and guided by the Millennium Forum’s Head of Wardrobe, Helen Quigley, young people with Asperger’s or Autism Spectrum Disorder learned how to design, piece together and stitch their very own creepy creations. Deriving inspiration from horror movies, comic books and anime, participants then had the opportunity the make their wildest imaginings come true!

Tailor-made to suit the Jigsaw’s needs, this unique course resulted in a special exhibition celebrating their talent. Their handiwork was displayed on mannequins in the Millennium Forum in Dunnes Stores over the Halloween weekend! Our group were able to celebrate their creativity at a Halloween party with their parents and friends and were also able to participate in a professional fashion photo shoot.

It is another excellent example of how a commercial sponsorship can get creative and really reach into the local community, while at the same time providing valued support to the arts in our City.
