Does anyone, anywhere, have anything new or worthwhile to tell us about the ‘Man In Black’? Johnny Cash has come to define country music over the last 40 years with, at first, his unique mix of hillbilly music, gospel and blues making him a perfect fit at Sam Phillips’ Sun records, where he recorded such classics as “Folsom Prison Blues” and “I Walk The Line.”
No other artist has touched the world of music quite like Johnny Cash. He is the only person to be inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame, The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame AND The Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame.
In this Opry le Daniel show, we have the Irish Queen of Country Music, Sandy Kelly who recorded and toured with Johnny Cash, Declan Nerney opened for Johnny Cash when he came to Cork and the up-coming ‘young gun’ Jordan Mogey, who’s style and sound is reminiscent of his late hero, the great Johnny Cash,
Lisa McHugh–a Born Star!
Lisa McHugh was reared listening to country music quickly coming to prominence after entering TG4’s talent show ‘Glór Tíre’ and shortly afterwards formed her own band and began touring the country.
At only 28, she has won 14 awards to date in under three years including ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’, three years in a row and ‘Outstanding Achievement on the World Stage’ in 2012 when she appeared as a guest of the legendary Gene Watson.
She was also voted Female Artist of the Year at the RTÉ Irish Country Music Awards, and our host, Daniel O’Donnell best summed up Lisa’s impact when saying ‘The young country artist has dazzled the Irish country music scene with her style, charm and charisma’.
