Creative Explosions

Objective: Richmond Centre Derry wanted to enhance the shopping experience for their customers and highlight a vacant unity which they had available to rent.
The Project: Shoppers of the city, got ready for The Creative Explosion – which was a unique and interactive shopping experience that took place one busy Saturday in 2012.
The Millennium Forum and Richmond Centre teamed up with Arts & Business NI to bring local shoppers a brand new event that was fun for all the family. The Creative Explosion was an exciting and entertaining game show event that featured surprise performances, special guests and spot prizes for anyone who was brave enough to take part.
Game Show Host, Discomania Kevin, invited members of the public to ‘push the gigantic button’ this four foot high red button activated a variety of surprises that was revealed from behind the window shutters of a number of shops taking part. Surprises include a model show, panto characters, larger than life puppets, singing and dancing and lots of involvement with local shoppers. The vacant unit shutters would rise each time the button was pushed to present a host of excellent performance and high profile industry professionals. There was also be the chance for shoppers to win prizes including Millennium Forum show tickets, Richmond Centre shopping vouchers and much, much more – definitely a creative explosion.
This project was used a best practice model for Arts and Business and went on ignite and excite the panel of arts of Business when they chose the Millennium Forum as the 2013 over arts and business winners at the Allianz Arts and Business Award and presented us with a cheque for £3000.
