Write Sight Festival

Specsavers is a forward thinking company who employ cutting edge, innovative and fun campaigns to help market themselves and to reach in to the community. They continually work with the sponsorship partners to find new ways of engaging and building their brand awareness with our audience.

Because of the strong correlation between poor eyesight and lower literacy skills we came up with the idea of the #Write Sight Festival, a one day extravaganza which celebrated everything literacy in a fun family day in the Millennium Forum in June 2017.

The Write Sight Festival encompassed over 10 workshops, including View and Review, Seeing is Believing, Author with a View, Glasses to Classes, Write Stuff, and Rhyme Time, (author visits, crafts classes, illustration classes, playwright classes.

Objectives and Results

Write Sight Festival was designed to help the Millennium Forum and Specsavers to reach into the local community, make new collaborations and attract new audiences/ customers.

The Write Sight Festival was innovative, exciting, and successful, it engaged hundreds of people including the family market both of which are important to the Millennium Forum and Specsavers.

Over 300 people attended workshops, staff of Specsavers where on hand to give out merchandise, and the Forum was alive with young and older people enjoying the festivities.

It created new links in the community and business some of which included libraries N.I, Eason’s Book Stores, Jo Jingles and other community groups.

It was well planned informed and managed (we were subsequently inundated with requested asking when it would run again). Write sight has now given us a good template to develop our festivals and Specsavers continue to develop and grow their access partnership with the Millennium Forum.
